The relationship between artists and their fans is deeply passionate, and VEVO’S newly inaugerated CERTIFIED program celebrates that passion. An elite group of 33 artists – from Rihanna to Pitbull to Nicki Minaj to Lil Wayne – have made music videos that have surpassed 100 million views on VEVO. Their fans are the drivers behind this achievement, wholeheartedly bringing the music into their daily lives. CERTIFIED honors such dedication while spotlighting the creativity that led to these tremendous milestones.
Today, we kick off our first CERTIFIED installment by celebrating the achievements of Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Selena Gomez and LMFAO, each of whom have multiple videos over the 100 million mark.
Exclusive interviews with both artists and their fans are at the center of CERTIFIED. Each series takes viewers behind the scenes of the videos, with the artists discussing the making of the clip and explaining how it impacted their careers. Additional profiles find paying tribute to the video and explaining how it personally impacted them. Each series will also feature one Ultimate Fan – recruited by VEVO via Facebook and Twitter – presenting the CERTIFIED statue to his/her favorite artist.
The exclusive CERTIFIED programming will kick off with Justin Bieber on June 12. Subsequent interviews with Katy Perry (June 25), LMFAO (July 9) and Selena Gomez (July 23) will arrive every other week thereafter. It will all be available at VEVO’s CERTIFIED page. VEVO will honor additional artists and their CERTIFIED videos each quarter going forward.
“I just want to thank all my friends and fans online that have watched my music videos so many times that I can barely count,” says Katy Perry. “Thank you all for your attention and for your love and support. I will always try my best to give you something special. Rock on!”
